So here is the T-shirt design i did for Resist Concept, its a a tribute to the old Skinny Puppy design(right pic) I tried to make the Puppy demon creature look more like Daemon Descent who's the guy behind Resist Concept. I sincerely urge you to check out the many varied projects from this guy, hopefully i can inspire you to do so through the interview below, Pretty much all of his projects has their own Facebook sites or soundcloud pages. |
Have you been playing music your whole life
yes, pretty much as long as I can remember music has been a part of my life. I got my first guitar when I was 11 for Christmas, but I had been getting onto music for years even before that. My parents were huge music fans, and I would go through their record collection and listen for hours.. my first favorite albums as a child were Alice Copper - From the Inside, and Queen - News of the World
What drew you to doing electronic music, what were early influences
I was drawn into the electronic music world the same way most people were in the early 90's and that is through NIN and Ministry. getting into those 2 bands really opened up the door into a whole new world of music... and then I heard Skinny Puppy - Last Rights album on LSD the summer of 92.. and everything changed hahaha
Resist Concept seems to be your main project (out of many,) when did you start the band
Resist Concept was started in 2004, and yes it has been my main musical project.
It seems like you have a broad span for what Resist Concept can sound like, ranging from dark electronica to industrial, is there any unwritten rules to what it can't sound like
Well that's the point of the project in a way.. to be able to express whatever I want without a set of rules.. there is no telling where I will take the sound of RC in the future.
The Resist Concept Fix Up My Gun. EP was almost conceptual in it's storyline, can we expect more in that vein
yes the next full length RC album is planned to be a full on concept album
You did the statiCSphere project band with your spouse, Storm on vocals. What were the thoughts behind this and can we expect more material
We wanted a project with more Rock influences, and more basic song structures, and Storm has a beautiful voice for that type of music so it just naturally happened, and yes you can expect a lot more coming soon from statiCSphere
The False Flag, project is really experimental noise, do you see it as an outlet for getting alot of anger out and do you find it easier or harder to do noise stuff than more traditional industrial
False Flag is my fuck you to the world project.. the project I go to when everything just feels fucked up and I need to just hear loud abrasive NOISE .. and again there is no rule book in FALSE FLAG
Please ellaborate on The God Of Nibiru, project; what was the concept behind it, and will there be more
yes there will be more from God of Nibiru ... it's my sci-fi inspired scace music project .. I've been a sci-fi geek since a chile.. just something about space always fascinated me.. I guess it was being raised on Star Wars and Alien movies haha
Is Scarecrow records still active and what your view on the record label buisness, within the EBM/industrial scene
My view on the record industry is pretty Jaded to say the least .. I stay away from record contracts and all that business crap. I just want to make my music without hassle and without too much expectations..
How do you feel that the scene has changed over the years, pros and cons
I'm so far out of the so-called scene that I'm really the wrong person to ask.. I haven;t been to a goth club in over 2 years, and I don't miss it.. the way I see it is if people really cared about music they would support the music they claim to love and I seen very little of that in the past decade or more
Do you ever feel that it would be easier doing music with others instead of doing all the work by yourself
I work better alone for the most part, but I do enjoy others in the studio when they are recording their parts and the atmosphere of it all, but when it comes to the final stages of production I usually tend to close out the rest of the word and just do my thing
Do you prefer studio work compared to playing live
Studio for sure.. I have no desire to play in front of a bunch of people looking at their phones.
Is there any new projects cooking or what is the next thing we will hear from you
Next output will be a split release in October with Blut Reaktor, Droid Sector Decay, Phantasm Nocturnes, and Resist Concept.. think horror movie samples and GORE.. yep we are doing a special horror themed Halloween release.

I have the pleasure of working with various electronic bands now and then. While the style of these bands, range from: EBM(Electronic Body Music) to Industrial and a myriad of sub cathegories. I have chose to put em' all under the banner of Electro-Punk. Since the music is pushing the boundaries of samplers & synths with the undisputed attitude of punk. I will be running features on these bands, since you do need a soundtrack, when not reading my kick-ass cyberpunk novels;) - JxJx
So this illustration was for the Colorado band - WIRE TRAP: God Demo You, cd. I really enjoyed this collaboration, the theme was revenge related, for one of their songs i mentioned that the Danish word for 'revenge' is: HÆVN and pronounced by a person who speaks English, it would sound kinda like saying: Heaven?... So yeah, go listen to their songs here: http://www.reverbnation.com/wiretrap
